Vortex Mixer
pinshape
This piece of lab equipment allows for smooth mixing of low-viscosity fluids in chemistry and other lab tests. The unit offers the same functionality as a $325 machine but at a significantly lower cost of just $30. To assemble this device, start by sourcing a 12V DC electric motor, similar to the one available on Amazon at www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NN6EXV0. Next, you'll need a mechanical switch and a single-pole triple-throw switch. The LM317 with heat sink is also essential for stable operation. In addition, you will require a power diode, a 47uF capacitor rated at 20V or higher, a 1K resistor, and a 10k potentiometer. Printed parts, hot glue, and an M5 x 10 bolt and nut are also necessary components. To complete the device, you'll need to solder everything together using a soldering iron and solder. A 12-20V power supply with an output of 16V at 0.5A is recommended for powering the unit.
