Vorpal Hexapod remix of controller base and battery door
thingiverse
I built a Vorpal Hexapod recently, and I'm thrilled with the kit's design. The battery door was initially loose, but that didn't stop me from finding a solution. One potential fix was to secure it with tape, but I opted for a more permanent solution: remixing the controller base and battery door to create a reliable latching mechanism. This way, the battery door closes with a satisfying "snap," giving me peace of mind every time I close it. To achieve this, I remixed the base from the Vorpal version that features a small amount of built-in brim. The battery door was lengthened by approximately 1mm and equipped with little retention arms to keep it securely in place. I also made modifications to the base, adding dimples for the retention arms and a fillet on the edges where the latch arms pass when closing. These subtle tweaks ensured a smooth and secure closure every time.
