UPDATE 5: Published the assembly STEP file. UPDATE 4: Reinforced the springs to fit M3 nut trap specifications, courtesy of neo0815's 3mm filament testing assistance. UPDATE 1: Created a design featuring M3 nut traps for users in the US; insert quality is high but challenging to source globally. Adjustable geared extruder created for custom printers. It is optimized for use with E3D hot ends but can be integrated with any standard 16mm diameter hot end setup. Note that an extra PTFE tube will be needed if utilizing this setup. Important modification note: When using the latter option, you'll need to enlarge the top filament guide for 3mm prints. Use a knife. Install threaded inserts and expand the inner diameter with each M3 bolt you insert; they should get pushed into plastic perfectly while keeping the threads exposed at one end. Use needle nose pliers carefully when placing the small gear from within, so as not to scratch the outer case. Take one 8mm bearing, and slide in an idler bushing into it before attaching that idler firmly with a single M16 bolt to secure.
