VORON 2.4 Drag Chain Modification

VORON 2.4 Drag Chain Modification

I have had problems with wires breaking on my Voron 2.4 printer. I don't know if I'm alone with this problem or if it's something others are experiencing. Anyway, thought that I would pass this along. I noticed that the drag chain along the Y axis is particularly hard on the wiring (after picking up 4 addition wires for the end-stops). I've tried just about everything to address the problem with some luck but no clear solution. I finally decided to increase the drag chain size from 10 x 10 to 15 x 10. To accommodate the increase size I had to change the XY Cable bridge and the tie down at the back end of the Y axis. Because the Voron is hand built, every unit is different and tolerances can vary. If you use this modification make sure that the tool head is not blocked from reaching the X and Y end-stops. The Y end-stop at the back of the machine is particularly vulnerable. The drag chain mount at the end of the Y axis is thick enough on my machine to allow the Right-Hand-Side XY-Joint-Upper to pass UNDERNEATH the drag chain mount. If the joint hits the mount the Tool head will not engage the Y endstop. To increase the thickness of the mount, increase the scale of the Z-axis to obtain the proper clearance. If you use this mod move the gantry by hand to ensure that things are working properly and that the drag chain does not scrape along the plexiglass side of the printer. As always, no warranty is expressed or implied as to the functionality of this modification for any purpose, real or imagined.
