Vomit Bag Ring
thingiverse
So, I drive for Uber on weekends, taking overnight shifts, transporting all those who have overindulged in drinks home. We all know that people who drink too much often end up vomiting as well. The hospital-grade vomit bags are quite pricey, but their design is unbeatable: just insert your mouth into the large open end and you're good to go. I wanted to replicate this design on a budget, so I started using plastic bags from the Dollar Store. These bags are actually meant for kids' birthday parties, but they work perfectly as vomit receptacles. They're made of plastic, not paper, which can't handle alcohol-based puke very well. Each pack costs just $1 and includes 25 bags, while the rings use a minimal amount of filament. Printing time for the base is about 30 minutes, and the insert takes less than 10 minutes to print. I considered printing multiple sets vertically, but it would have resulted in a poor fit between the two pieces, so I decided to stick with individual prints. The insert fits into a groove on the base, and you place the bag through the base, wrapping it around by about half an inch, with the groove facing downwards towards the bottom of the bag. Then, the insert clips in, pinching the overhanging part of the bag so that it becomes trapped. Although the rings are technically reusable, after someone has vomited in them, you probably won't want to reuse them. That's why I kept the design as compact as possible, so you'll hardly think twice about letting your passengers take their trash home with them. You can see a comparison of my design and an actual hospital-grade vomit bag in the pictures. The main picture might look like it could be an extra-large condominium, but if that's why you're here, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Enjoy!
