# UPDATE - 09.04.2020 # Design enhancements made to improve functionality. A new tool for effortlessly removing 3D printed caps from the wheelnut has been added. The old STL-file has been replaced with updated versions in the download package. If you wish to print caps featuring contrast or colored letters, similar to those shown in the latest images, follow these steps: Pause your slicer at 0.5mm Switch filaments This technique will produce caps consisting of a 0.5mm "color A" segment, followed by a 0.5mm "color B" section for contrast, and then continue with "color A". ________________________________________________________ # Wheelnut Cap Replacement for Volvo # My Volvo V40 R-design (MY13) originally came equipped with stainless steel wheelnuts featuring caps that were press-fitted onto the wheelnut at the factory. However, it's common for these caps to fall off over time. The missing caps looked unsightly, so I designed replacement caps that snap onto the groove in the original wheelnut and replaced all of the stainless steel caps. The original nut measures 18mm, while the cap adds an additional 1mm, bringing the total diameter to 19mm. On later models, Volvo replaced the steel caps with plastic ones. I printed the new caps using black and blue PLA, with a resolution of 0.18mm, two perimeter shells, and zero infill. I oriented them with the "R" facing down on the print bed, resulting in a snug fit that requires no additional adjustments. The tool was printed at a higher resolution (0.25mm), with two perimeter shells and 100% infill to ensure its durability.
