Volvo 740 940 NA Airbox thermostat delete
thingiverse
On Volvo 740/940 Naturally aspirated cars there is a thermostat with a flapper that when cold will draw hot air from above the exhaust manifold to heat the engine faster. This system is usually broken after 30 years and kills horsepower, fuel milage and Airflow Meters and they are expensive as gold bars these days. (500-700€ New NOS part)Found this on a facebook forum and asked if the creator could upload it to Thingiverse and he said i could upload it here. So im not the creator!Creator of 3D model is: Koit Kupler from Estonia. Its a 3 piece design for good airflow but the bellmouth can be left out and using a piece of hose instead to route fresh air from the grill. Anyway you will free up horsepower as the thermostat will block 1/3 of the original airbox air intake. Basicly free horsepower and a piece of mind to clean up the engine bay and reduce failure points! The first 2 parts thats closest to the airbox can be freely rotated to get the best angle as you wish then glue them into place. Then if bellmouth is wanted just clue it allso glue it to the end.Hardest part is to remove the stock thermostat assembly as they usually are really stuck in place. Be creative!
