Volumio - Raspberry pi Zero and PCM5102A DAC
thingiverse
Loosely based on Scharmann's small media player ( https://support.hifiberry.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/201843381-Small-media-player-with-squeezelite-slave?page=1#comments) and using ideas from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4632031 --- I wanted to use a Raspberry pi Zero with a DAC from Ali Express. I modified a case using the scad files from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1264391. I am including the STLs that you can use to mount the pi zero, DAC and power supply. Print DACSTOP.stl x 2 - use double sided tape under it and between it and the DAC...use the second and crazy glue it behind it so it won't move.... use velcro under the powersupply and use velcro on the case bottom so you can remove the power supply when needed....epoxy some m3 bolts to the front case to mount the lcd... You will need: -Meanwell 5V PS (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B005T6UJBU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -DAC (for superior Audio Processing) (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000292708385.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dmjNBxB) -Raspberry pi Zero (available just about anywhere you live) -16x02 LCD parallel display (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B075292PB9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Connect DAC: VCC - 5V - PIN2 Pi 3.3V - 3.3V PIN1 Pi GND, FLT, DMP, FMT - All connected to ground (you can wire all of these together and connect to PIN6 Pi) SCL - Not connected BCK - PIN12 PI DIN - PIN40 Pi LCK - Pin 35 Pi XMT - to 3.3V and PIN1 Pi On setup of Volumio - select DAC board as Hifiberry DAC For the LCD 16x02 connections GND 1 Pin-06 +5V 2 Pin-02 Contrast 3 to 2k ohm resistor to pin-06 RS 4 to Pin-26 RW 5 to pin-06 E 6 to pin-24 Data 4 11 to GPIO 25 (pin 22) Data 5 12 to GPIO 24 (pin 18) Data 6 13 to GPIO 23 (pin 16) Data 7 14 to GPIO 11 (pin 23) BL 15 connect to +5V through a 10-600 ohm resistor for desired brightness GND 16 P1-06 The only problem was pin 12 - the DAC is using it already. I re-assigned this line to GPIO 11 (pin 23). Make sure you change this in pydPiper use this page to get an LCD/Oled working (you can modify the stl for another style, if needed - use hd44780 for the led driver in pydPiper for this stl) Skip rasp-config - it doesn't exist in volumio.. http://moodeaudio.org/forum/showthread.php?tid=461&highlight=hd44780 Have fun - it took me a bit to figure this out - but you should be able to with this info....
