KMWE and TU Delft collaborate in optimizing GE engine bracket's volume. Topology optimization at TU Delft reduced 4-bolt solution volume by 68.65% through 150 iterations. Further trails with 3 bolts led to a 75% reduction and met contest demands. The team found that removing one more bolt resulted in only 74.64% reduction, which was less than the 3-bolt solution. They are currently converting optimized topology models from stl to stp for competition requirements. If allowed, they will explore models with fewer fixing connections.
