Volleyball Player Matchup Wheel
thingiverse
A local volleyball coach approached me, asking me to create two wheels to help him pit his players against their opposing team members. Apparently, being able to rotate the players so certain players matched up with opposing team members is a must. This print showcases what I came up with - The coach was thrilled with my design. However, it requires some additional work, involving cutting transparency sheets to match the slots and gluing those in place. This allows the coach to write down the numbers of the players with a dry marker and easily erase them. Instructions Firstly, print the top piece - I stopped the printing process halfway through and switched colors for better contrast. Then, print the second piece last. Have a small mallet or hammer, pliers and flathead screwdriver ready at hand. Be prepared to jump in when it finishes so that you can use your pliers to join the rod ends together while they're still hot, pushing the top wheel into place - you might need some gentle encouragement with the hammer if needed. Once it's passed through the hole, use the flathead screwdriver to widen the cut end while it's warm, making sure it becomes a permanent stopper and holds the two wheels together. With the right amount of friction, they should be able to spin smoothly but also move freely when desired.
