Volkswagen Kübelwagen

The Volkswagen Kübelwagen, a light military vehicle created by Ferdinand Porsche and constructed by Volkswagen during World War II, served the German military forces (Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS). Its design was heavily influenced by the Volkswagen Beetle and initially labeled as Type 62 prototype. Later, it was internally referred to as Type 82. The Kübelwagen's chassis and mechanics were built at Stadt des KdF-Wagens, while its body was crafted by Ambi Budd Presswerke, a US-owned firm in Berlin. Essentially, the Kübelwagen played a similar role for Germany as the jeep did for the Allies.
