The Volkswagen Amarok will debut as a four-door double cab version when it launches, with a single cab model set to follow in 2011. This versatile pick-up combines rugged reliability with cutting-edge technology, high safety standards, exceptional fuel efficiency, and the typical Volkswagen standards of comfort, quality, and durability. Production is underway at the Volkswagen factory in Buenos Aires, Argentina, ahead of its global launch in early 2010 in South America and later that summer in Europe. The first models are expected to arrive at UK Volkswagen Van Centres in September 2010. The Volkswagen Amarok boasts a substantial payload capacity of up to 1.15 tonnes and a maximum towing limit of 2.8 tonnes. Its spacious cargo area measures an impressive 2.52 m², with dimensions of 1,555 mm long, 1,620 mm wide, and 1,222 mm between the wheelarches - the largest in its class. This means that for the first time on a mid-size pick-up, loading Euro pallets sideways is possible, saving precious space. Official photos showcase the Volkswagen Amarok's sleek design, reflecting the latest Volkswagen design DNA with a frontal styling that echoes the latest Transporter and Golf models. Measuring 5.25 m in length, it features a ladder frame chassis and will be available with both rear-wheel drive and switchable or permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive. To maximize convenience, the switchable all-wheel drive can be engaged by simply pressing a button, and also offers low off-road gearing for added traction.
