I love my Volantex RG65 but let's be honest: its main boom pivot is crap. I broke it after 1 week, and I don't even know how... I just found the lower bearing broken one day after sailing ...yeah, I know what you think ! No, I don't have cats. But yes, I have kids !!! :) ....But that stock part is still lousy.Long story short: I designed this new pivot mechanism, inspired from the DF65 "gooseneck" pivot, where the main boom is pivoted around the mast by that big and sturdy-looking part. This pivot is in 2 parts : a notched washer that fits under the screw in the mast (same function) and the pivot itself that fits under the washer. You have to disassemble the main boom and its "leveling mechanism" (whatever its name), and reassemble it on my partDon't forget to spray profusely with silicon grease !Note : the mast is no longer blocked at its base, so it tends to rotate freely. But I have yet to find a issue with this, since everything else above is also rotating quite freely. Worst case if that does bother me one day: I'll secure the base with gafer tape or super glue !
