Human: The construction of Klavže on the Idrijca began in 1767. In terms of power and dimensions, they were the most powerful among all the dams on the Idrijska River. The height of the dam was 8.9 meters, the length at the top was 34.8 meters, and the thickness of the dam was 6.5 meters. For their dam, a lake formed that was up to 785 m long with a volume of up to 210,000 cubic meters. Their height is 11.3 meters, length above 41.4 meters, and thickness above 10.8 meters. With their help, it was possible to float around 13,000 cubic meters of wood down the Idrijca River in one go. They operated until 1926. Due to aesthetic construction, exceptional dimensions, age, and unique operation, the dams on the Idrijca, Belci, and Kanomljica rivers are among our most important technical heritage objects.
