A lot of Californians, especially those living through last year's wildfire season, purchased Vogmasks, a popular brand of N95 facemask. At first glance, these masks seemed like an excellent choice for use during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, most of them come equipped with a valve that poses a significant risk to those around you when you exhale. This simple clip-on cap can be attached to the exit valve to mitigate this issue; I've found that combining it with some tape to seal the valve inlet on the inside of the mask provides decent protection. *CRUCIAL SAFETY NOTE*: Please note that I haven't rigorously tested its sealing capabilities, and using this setup in a medical setting would be reckless. There's no guarantee that 100% of exhaled air will be contained. That being said, I believe it does an impressive job of containing airborne pathogens, and it's certainly better than venturing out with the valve exposed.
