These custom-designed hooks took approximately 20 minutes to conceptualize in OpenSCAD, allowing the project to get underway immediately - students were eager to begin. I had anticipated that designing and printing the tracks would be a time-consuming process, so I designed these versatile hooks to work seamlessly with 3/4-inch PVC pipe - fortunately, we had about 30 feet of it readily available. The design can easily be adapted to accommodate other sizes of PVC pipe as needed. In addition to their functionality on the standard project setup, these hooks are also compatible with magnets (1/2 inch) for use on a magnetic blackboard. However, at sharp angles, the PVC may slide due to the absence of a lip on the hooks; this issue is easily resolved by securing it with a piece of tape. It's worth noting that these custom-designed hooks can serve as general-purpose hooks for hanging cables and other items as required.
