VKB Stick to Omnithrottle Adapter
thingiverse
This adapter body allows the conversion of a VKB flight stick (tested with a Gunfighter Mk III and Kosmosima Premium Grip) to be converted to a horizontal orientation. This converts the flight control into an arrangement similar to a throttle, but with the added advantage of two extra axes - These can be bound according to user preference, but are naturally aligned to sideways and vertical strafing in space sims. Example 1: X Axis for sideways strafing, Y Axis for throttle axis, and Twist axis for vertical strafing. Example 2: X Axis for sideways strafing, Y Axis for vertical strafing, Twist axis as a relative throttle axis (Twist until in-game throttle value achieves desired setpoint, and then release) This is a remix of Pretagonist's adapter - he came up with the design based on an idea I had posted about on reddit, and then I tweaked his design to allow for a more robust lid solution and a higher degree of tilt (This stick rests at a 70 degree angle versus his original 55 degree angle) For more information, see the [associated reddit thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/hotas/comments/gwqms2/trying_to_turn_a_vkb_gunfighter_3_into_an/) You need the sockets and internals from a 220 mm VKB stick extension (if you've got the 100 mm extension, check out this [this remix](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4851156)). Step by step instructions: 1.) Get VKB stick extension. 2.) Remove screws from the extension - save these, you will need them when assembling the product. 3.) Remove the sockets from either end of the extension. They are glued in place, so be advised, this will take considerable force! While you will need to exert a lot of force, take care not to overstretch the wire. 4.) Once the sockets are loose, disconnect the wire using the inbuilt jumper. 5.) Print the adapter body and lid. 7.) Reassemble the stick extension in the newly printed adapter. Use the screws from step 2. to secure the socket and lid in place once fully assembled.
