This part of the tripod attaches to the camera via a screw. I needed one that could also be used for other purposes, such as a device with a 7-inch screen for first-person view flying and possibly my LG G phone case. Two holes were drilled through it to allow mounting different items. It fits snugly in the holder and is functioning perfectly so far for the screen.
