Vive Gun Stock V2
thingiverse
Version 2 of my original gun stock (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2800117) is now ready for printing! This stock makes a huge difference in FalloutVR with sighted or scoped weaponry, and it really immerses you in the game. Version 2 is lighter, easier to build and can be installed and removed from the Vive wand by hand with just a few turns of a knob. I'm currently testing a stronger folding stock arm - V2-Reinforced-Folding-Stock-Arm.stl. Here's what you need for this build: 6 m3 nuts 2 m3 nyloc nuts 4 m3 20mm screws 2 m3 12mm screws A section of 1 1/8th wooden dowel from the hardware store An m3 hex key Something to cut the wooden dowel with The only part that needs support is V2 - Vive Mount Knob.stl. Everything else can be printed with PETG at 230/80, 20% infil and .2mm layer heights. To insert the nuts into their slots, press them in by hand and then use the hex wrench to fully insert them. Make sure that when you're inserting the nuts, you orient them so that there are two flat sides of the nut pressing against the sides of the hole. If you do this, they will go in a lot easier and should perfectly bottom out. For the hinge on the folding stock, make sure the nylock nuts are tight enough so that the stock doesn't want to unfold via gravity, but you can easily unfold it by hand. Don't cut the dowel too short - a good idea is to leave it a bit longer and get a feel for it in VR before trimming it to final size. For the Vive mount, adjust the Vive so it's in a comfortable position before tightening the knob. Don't overtighten it - as soon as you can no longer easily move the Vive wand, you're done! Don't try to force the Vive wand once it's tight. I don't recommend leaving this on for Beat Saber.
