Vittoria della Rovere (1622 – 1694) seized the throne as Grand Duchess of Tuscany alongside her husband, Grand Duke Ferdinando II. Together, they produced four offspring, two of whom defied infant mortality to thrive: Cosimo III, destined for a long reign as Tuscany's monarch, and Francesco Maria, a future prince of the Church. Upon the passing of her grandfather Francesco Maria della Rovere, Vittoria claimed the Duchies of Rovere and Montefeltro, which would later be passed down to her second son, Francesco Maria, following her own demise. As a devoted grandmother, she took on the responsibility of caring for her three grandchildren. The union between Vittoria and Grand Duke Ferdinando II brought a treasure trove of riches into the House of Medici, many of which are still showcased today within the Palazzo Pitti's and Uffizi Gallery's grand halls in Florence.
