Designed to fit on top of each other. It is a construction toy and the possibilities to create some thing are endless. They don't always have to exactly line up with each other. For example, the bottom four pins can hold up another block with only two pins while the top block's bottom two holes without pins are overhanging the platform you are building on. This is the updated version of tinker blocks and does not pose a hazard to small children.
