Vitra EA 117

I finally found a detailed model of this chair, but I recently purchased a real one and decided to create my own model from scratch. This is undoubtedly, the most accurate 3D model of this chair available online today. The Aluminium Chair is considered one of the most iconic furniture designs of the twentieth century. Charles and Ray Eames originally designed it in 1958 for an art collector's private residence in Columbus, Indiana (USA). To create this chair, the designer couple abandoned the traditional seat shell concept, instead stretching a panel of fabric or leather between two aluminium side members to produce a taut yet elastic seat. The chair perfectly adapts to the body of the sitter and is incredibly comfortable, even without elaborate upholstery. The Aluminium Group features several different models designed for use in homes, offices, and public areas. Vitra has produced the Aluminium Group chairs over multiple decades with unwavering quality. This extensive experience enables us to offer a 30-year guarantee on all chair models within the Aluminium Group. 1) My model is based on an older version of this design, so there is no "Vitra" label on the chrome nob to adjust the angle. I also omitted the plastic cap covering the gas spring system as it looks out of place on the original chair. I started modeling using a DWG reference from Vitra, ensuring accurate sizing throughout my model. 2) The wheels are rigged in 3ds Max for added realism, allowing you to point them in any direction you prefer. 3) I'd like to thank Grant Warwicks excellent V-Ray course for teaching me how to create materials with multiple reflection layers, achieving maximum realism in your scene.
