VISITA VIRTUAL A LES FEIXES DE LA SALA
sketchfab
Feixes de la Sala, a Artés in the Bages region, is an ancient rural settlement dating back to the Middle Ages. The discovery that sparked the archaeological excavations was a large monolithic block with engravings corresponding to a counterbalance of a "biga and screw" press, a system commonly used during Roman and medieval times for wine and oil production. This was the only visible element of the site before excavation began. Excavations commenced in 2016 as part of the Artés Archaeology Campus initiative, with three campaigns conducted since then. The first campaign revealed that the block formed part of a rural construction where it was repurposed to build one of the walls. A small domestic area (Area 1) was uncovered, yielding abundant fragments of cooking ceramics, particularly pots, along with the remains of a hearth. In the most recent campaign (2018), new walls surfaced suggesting the presence of two possible adjacent areas to the first.
