Vision Grills Kamado Smoker Vent Handle

Update 04/06/20 - Used this for the first time last night making steaks, got the grill up to 450 with ease, and the handle worked flawlessly without any issues on its maiden voyage. I've owned my Vision Grills Kamado grill for years now, and just a couple of weeks ago I went to open the top vent to start another smoke, but the turn handle snapped off in my hands. This was always a concern because the inside of the top vent gets coated with soot and grease, making it hard to turn when the grill is cold, especially on chilly days. Not wanting to spend $50 on an entire new top vent when all I needed was a small part, I decided to use my DIY skills to design a replacement. I printed it in ABS with 50% infill for added strength and it fits perfectly - in my opinion, that is. My biggest worry is how the handle will hold up to the intense heat of the kamado when cooking at high temperatures like pizza or steak searing. I have no idea what the top vent temperature reaches when the grill surface hits 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In the near future, I'll put it to the test and update this description with my findings. If the handle melts away instantly, I might consider cutting out some 1/8-inch cork to insulate it between the handle and cap.
