Vision Grills Kamado Smoker Vent Handle

Update 04/06/20 - Used this for the first time last night making some steaks and got the grill up to 450. Handled worked fine and didn't seem to be a problem on the first use. I've had my Vision Grills Kamado grill for a number of years and a couple weeks ago I went to open the top vent to start another smoke and the turn handle just snapped off. This was always a worry because the inside of the top vent gets coated in soot and greases making it difficult to turn when the grill is cold and especially when the temps are cold outside too. Not wanting to order a whole new $50 top vent when I needed only the small little part I set off using my meager cad-ish skills and designed a replacement. I printed it in ABS with 50% infill for some more strength and it fits quite well IMO. My big worry is the heat from the kamado when it gets REAL hot for things like pizza's or steak searing. I really don't know what the top vent temperatures get to when the grill surface is @400º F. I'll test it out in the near future and update the description. If the handle just melts right away and it might :) my next step is to cutout some 1/8" cork I have and make an isolate it between the handle and cap. Print Settings Printer: Qidi X-Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 50% Filament: Hatchbox ABS Black Notes: I used heavy supports under the overhang to keep it clean looking. Normal 15% supports left the overhang less desirable looking. YMMV. Category: Replacement Parts
