Vise pad for holding 8mm threaded rod
thingiverse
Constructing Prusa Mendel printers necessitates significant time spent cutting and filing 8mm threaded rods. To ensure a secure hold without slipping or damage, I designed these vise pads specifically for this size rod. Small disc magnets (optional) can be added to keep the pads attached to steel vise jaws when open, or to hold pairs together in your tool drawer. To use, print two of the pads and optionally insert a magnet into each pad's vise-facing side. Place one pad on each vice jaw and secure an 8mm threaded rod horizontally between them. Tighten the vise while wiggling the rod until it fits snugly in the groove, then secure to hold it steady for cutting or filing operations. The CAD file is compatible with Alibre Design software.
