The Visby class is a new type of stealth missile corvette adopted by the Swedish Navy, succeeding the Göteborg and Stockholm-class corvettes. Designed for low visibility, radar cross-section, and infrared signature, this 640-tonne ship measures 72.7m in length with a beam of 10.4m and draught of 2.4m. Powered by a CODOG propulsion system consisting of 2 × 125SII Kamewa Waterjets, 4 × Vericor TF50A gas turbines (total rating 16 MW), and 2 × MTU Friedrichshafen 16 V 2000 N90 diesel engines (total rating 2.6 MW) with 3 × 270kW generators, the ship can reach speeds of 35 knots (65 km/h) and has a range of 2,500 nmi (4,600 km) at 15 kn (28 km/h). Its complement is 43 personnel. The vessel is equipped with advanced sensors and processing systems, including the Saab 9LV combat management system, Saab Sea_GIRAFFE AMB 3D PESA surveillance radar, Saab Ceros 200 stealth fire control radar system, Condor CS-3701 tactical radar surveillance system, GDC Hull-mounted sonar, Hydroscience Technologies towed array sonar system, GDC variable depth sonar, and electronic warfare & decoys like the Rheinmetall TKWA/MASS (Multi Ammunition Softkill System). The ship's armament includes a Bofors 57mm Mk34 gun, RBS15 Mk2 anti-ship missiles, 4 × 400 mm torpedo launchers for Type 45 torpedoes, and can also carry mines and depth charges. It is fitted with a helicopter pad to accommodate the AgustaWestland AW109 helicopter.
