This relief showcases a mother and child exuding elegance from their intricately carved throne. Burnt to ashes in 1945, much of the background remains lost to time, yet we can still discern the subtlety and lightness of the artwork, particularly in the Virgin's delicate veil. Recently restored with the aid of a plaster cast from the early 20th century, the original composition has been meticulously preserved for future generations to admire. Antonio was renowned for crafting serene depictions of Madonna, and his magnum opus is undoubtedly the stunning decoration of the Chapel of the Cardinal of Portugal in San Miniato al Monte, situated just outside Florence, Italy.
