The sculpture's style is a sophisticated Romanesque that could easily be from the end of the 13th century. The fluid movement and elegance of its robes, combined with the child in the mother's lap, only resting on her knee with his feet, clearly indicate significant progress. However, the sculpture as a whole is deserving of praise, except for its polychrome. It was stolen by Erik, a Belgian, in 1979 but abandoned because it wouldn't fit in his van.
