I've never been able to locate a suitable small and robust spring, so I came up with a trigger system that allows me to use a torsion spring instead. The spring is carefully handmade from .055 gauge music wire. To make the process easier, I fashioned a winding jig by driving a 3mm metal pin into a board - this also resolved some issues related to cylinder rotation.
