This is the pressure increasing valve that uses the high pressure air from the last stage of the compressor. The air is used to increase fuel pressure to the atomisers and also mix in air to the fuel flow to obtain better atomisation. A seperate fuel system is used for starting and the valve would normally be closed during startup.
