After scouring the bigger stores like True Value, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, and some smaller retailers like Citi Trends, my partner and I decided we wanted to add knobs to our cabinets. She's been insisting that we wait for Hobby Lobby to mark down their items, but I'm eager to find cheap alternatives. Since these custom knobs cost me pennies on the dollar compared to buying real ones at varying prices, I've decided to prototype a solution. The result is this project. I'm labeling this as a work in progress because there may be other ways to improve it. For now, I intend to use these temporary knobs until my partner finds actual cabinet knobs she likes. To assemble the knob, start by gluing the topper piece onto a nut or bolt. Then, run it through the center of the pumpkin, either drilling out a hole or using the existing core hole. Next, attach the base piece that touches the cabinet or drawer by running the bolt through it. Finally, you can finish the job with a nut on the other end of the cap topper or reverse these steps and start from the cabinet. I created this for my own convenience, so I don't have any insight into how others might approach this project. In that case, I'll likely use All-Thread, cutting it to size with a Dremel and shaping it into a bolt until it meets my needs. Feel free to improve upon or modify this idea as you see fit.
