Vintage Schwinn Pedal Cleat

This replaced the worn out old rubber cleats that hardened and spin too easily around the bolt, causing my foot to slip off at bad times. They looked nice but were not safe. Soaking them in rubber re-grip didn't help. These are designed to fit tight around the center axle and bolts, to distribute the load and avoid rattling. Use thick walls for strength. My pedals had long bolts and nuts. I see a lot of similar pedals with rivets that look easy to drill out and replace with bolts and nuts. Good time to clean and lube the bearings. Cleats are split in two because the bearing retainers tend to be stamped and not removable.
