Vintage Iron Work Inspired Paper-Towel Holder - #CountertopChallenge
thingiverse
I designed and crafted a paper-towel holder inspired by vintage I-Beam construction in my workshop, where I needed a sturdy design that could hold its ground under heavy use. When I couldn't find the perfect holder online, I was struck by an idea after browsing old photographs of skyscraper construction projects featuring impressive metal frameworks built from nuts and bolts. To recreate this look on a smaller scale, I opted to replicate it using I-Beam style metalwork, with a hinge mechanism secured by powerful magnets that both keep it closed tightly when not in use and open smoothly for changing paper towels. You can securely fasten this paper-towel holder either under a cabinet or to the wall, giving you ample freedom in where to place it. As an added bonus, its versatility extends even further, allowing it to also hold toilet paper rolls with ease. CountertopChallenge encourages innovative solutions, which led me to envision this functional and visually striking piece for everyday use. For this I-Beam paper-towel holder project, the required printed parts include: * Center_mount_b - 2 * Drum_2 - 2 * I-beam_short_final - 4 * Mount_a_hex_nut - 4 * Mount_b_3 - 2 * Mount_b_3_mirror - 2 For the hardware needed to complete this project: * M3 x 12 mm screws - 2 * M3 washer - 2 * M3 x 10mm screws - 32 * M3 nylock nuts - 38 * 8mm Diam X 3mm magnets - 4 * No. 8 wood screws to suit shelf / wall - 4
