Vinson Massif stands out as the highest peak in Antarctica, situated within the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, which tower above the Ronne Ice Shelf near the base of the Antarctic Peninsula. This massive structure is positioned about 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) from the South Pole and measures approximately 21 kilometers (13 miles) long and 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) wide.
