Vincent van Gogh's Olive Trees, 1889, now proudly resides within the Minneapolis Institute of Art's esteemed collection. According to artsmia.org's detailed description of the painting: This is one of fifteen breathtaking olive tree canvases that Van Gogh skillfully executed between June and December of 1889. Earlier in the year, he had voluntarily confined himself at St-Paul Asylum in St-Rémy, a quaint town nestled in southern France, where he would go on to create his most remarkable masterpieces. The vibrant oranges and yellows dominating the painting strongly suggest that it was created during the autumn months. Van Gogh left St-Rémy in May 1890, relocating to Auvers near Paris, where he continued to paint until his untimely passing by suicide in July.
