Vinca is a thriving genus of six diverse species within the expansive family Apocynaceae. Hailing from Europe, northwest Africa, and southwest Asia, this plant genus showcases its remarkable adaptability to various regions. Interestingly, the English name periwinkle is not exclusively associated with Vinca, as it's also commonly used for the closely related genus Catharanthus. Moreover, a marine snail known as Littorina littorea shares the same nickname, underscoring the widespread recognition of this term in both botany and marine biology.
