Villa Capra

Villa Capra

The Villa Capra, also known as "La Rotunda," was masterfully designed by the renowned Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio and sits majestically on a hilltop near Vicenza in Italy. The primary structure is square-shaped, but Palladio cleverly decided to build large loggias at each side to fully exploit the breathtaking views in every direction. The model photographed was printed on my Makerbot Replicator+, utilizing a Smart Extruder+ with raft, 10% infill, and a layer height of 0.1mm. Alternatively, it will also work seamlessly at the default layer height of 0.2mm. No supports are necessary whatsoever. The parts are ingeniously designed to fit together perfectly with slots and pegs for precise positioning. A few drops of superglue will securely fix them in place permanently. You will need to print one copy each of the Main Walls and the Main Roof, and four copies of the Portico and Portico Roof.
