This ship is based on one of the five Viking vessels excavated near Skuldelev, Denmark in the 1960's. Ship number 5 was nearly three-fourths intact and archaeologists discovered it was a warship built circa 1030CE, equipped to carry about 30 fighters. Based on its dimensions, it was probably not designed for long-distance sea voyages, but would have been ideal for raiding or patrolling coastal areas within the Baltic Sea.
