Viking Axe Head

Viking Axe Head

thingiverse

I've been hooked on a TV show about Vikings that airs on a channel specializing in History. Recently, I've also been researching metal casting of 3D printed parts, so I decided to create a model for a Viking axe head. Since I don't have the capability to cast metal myself, I'd love it if someone else could give it a shot. The design is not optimized for draft, but sanding down the printed parts should take care of that issue. To make casting easier, I split the model into two halves. Just print one left and one right half, and you're good to go. There are also versions with Futhark runes on them, which say "God among men" in English translation. The runes are definitely a cool touch. I'm not sure how well the runes will hold up during casting, but we'll just have to wait and see. Supports will be required for the handle slot when printing the model. I'm currently printing my own copy, and I'll post an update once it's finished. This print is definitely not meant as a real weapon - its purpose is more like a toy, cosplay accessory, or display piece. If you guys decide to print or remix this design, please share your photos or videos with me!
