This statue depicts a young athlete securing a ribbon around his head, clearly indicating that he has just emerged victorious in some competition. The specific event he won remains unknown, but figures of this type were consistently featured in Greek art. A famous victor statue created by the skilled sculptor Pheidas shows a boy tying a ribbon around his head and was erected at Olympia according to ancient accounts. This marble sculpture is believed to be a later Roman replica of the original Greek bronze figure, which has been lost over time. The palm tree trunk was not part of the original Greek bronze, but palm fronds symbolized sporting triumph. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world for public access.
