Victor Hugo at The Rodin Museum, Paris , France
myminifactory
After Victor Hugo's death in 1885, a monument was dedicated to his memory within the Panthéon as a counterpart to Injalbert's statue of Mirabeau. Rodin was commissioned for this project in 1889. The sculptor chose to represent Victor Hugo in exile, seated among the rugged Guernsey rocks with one arm outstretched as if soothing the waves. This image conveyed both the poet lost in contemplation and the champion of the Republican cause. This object is part of "Scan The World".
