Maria Pia of Savoy, born in 1847 and passing away in 1911, held the title of Portuguese Queen consort. As the spouse of King Luís I of Portugal, Maria Pia's life took a significant turn on her baptism day when Pope Pius IX, her godfather, bestowed upon her a Golden Rose as a token of his affection. Just over three years later, in Lisbon on October 6th, 1862, Maria Pia exchanged vows with Luís I in a grand ceremony, solidifying their union.
