Vic Rattlehead
thingiverse
This has been my first ever serious project in sculpting. I embarked on this project at a friend's suggestion, creating a unique gift for his birthday. I took inspiration from the original Megadeth LP cover but chose not to replicate its exact shape and look. This piece was designed specifically with 3D printing in mind. The printed model underwent sanding to eliminate imperfections, and then underwent post-processing using basic modeling techniques. Each element received an acetone bath followed by two layers of liquid putty. Once dry, the elements were painted with a surfacer for enhanced surface quality. I employed airbrush techniques to add basic shadowing and toning methods. A desert tan color served as the base coat, with various shades derived from it. Basic brown wash was used to highlight details, while Alclad aluminum paints brought metal parts to life. Pigments and rust-specific washes were applied to replicate authentic rust effects. After painting and washing, all parts received a satin varnish finish. The inside of the skull was sealed with a thin layer of Milliput for added durability.
