Vibration Dampening Sorbothane Disc Foot Mounts for Ender 3
thingiverse
I had initially used a yoga mat cut into pieces as dampers for my Ender 3 printer, but they soon lost their effectiveness due to flattening. Frustrated with the situation, I decided to take a more thorough approach and conducted some research on the topic. After exploring various options, I settled on Sorbothane discs as the ideal solution for my needs. However, these discs proved to be excessively sticky, causing my Ender 3 to drag instead of slide smoothly. To address this issue, I created sliding discs that would work in conjunction with the non-sliding Sorbothane discs. These custom-made dampers utilize common 3 x 8mm bolts and T-nuts along with Sorbothane discs. Based on my calculations, I purchased a pack of eight Sorbothane discs, which can be found on Amazon at the following link: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B019O5HGFI. Since my espresso machine also employs these exact same discs, I took advantage of the opportunity and bought an additional eight-pack for future use. For those interested in learning more about Sorbothane dampers, there is a wealth of information available on their website: https://www.isolateit.com/vibration-isolating-discs/sorbothane-vibration-isolation-circular-pad.html. Unfortunately, I failed to capture the process of creating these custom dampers through photographs, so this is what they look like.
