Vex Project Numbers
thingiverse
I teach using the Vex EDR system, and last year I hit a roadblock. Students would occasionally grab the wrong project and start working on it as if it were their own without even realizing what was happening. To solve this issue, I tried designating "parking spots" for their projects, but they still got mixed up. I experimented with using post-its, but they didn't stick well, and dry erase markers were a pain to remove after being left on too long. However, it hit me - I have access to a 3D printer. I discovered an awesome model of a lock bar online, modified the mesh to suit my needs, and added some numbers for identification. It also occurred to me that this could be a fantastic way to label projects for exhibits or displays. I included a blank version so you can easily add text using Tinkercad. Suggestion: Print on light-colored filament and use a sharpie to clearly write the numbers.
