Vestibular Apparatus / Labyrinth Ball Maze
thingiverse
This is a DIY project that's both educational and fun! The inner ear holds the vestibular apparatus, a crucial system for maintaining balance. It consists of three semicircular canals, tiny calcium crystals, and a vestibule where the crystals normally reside when balance is in perfect working order. However, when they're displaced into the canals, severe vertigo can occur - this is known as Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), affecting up to 30% of people at some point in their lives. Our ball maze was designed to educate patients with vertigo, students learning to treat it, and anatomy enthusiasts who love combining science and fun!
