Vessel From Fortune Mound

Vessel From Fortune Mound

myminifactory

This artifact originates from Fortune Mound, situated on the banks of the St. Francis River in Cross County, Arkansas. The paste can be classified as either fine Mississippi Plain or coarse Bell Plain; we opt for the latter terminology. This vessel is likely a late example of its type, with Mainfort (1996) and Williams (1980) suggesting it may be one of the last forms of its kind. Measuring 6 1/2 inches in height, the stirrup-necked bottle features a highly polished surface.
