Vespera Switch Guard
thingiverse
WARNING! Do NOT use glue to attach this; use double-sided tape! The Vespera smart telescope by Vaonis is a marvel! But the "on" switch is extremely sensitive, even to light touch. Once turned on, the telescope can only be turned off via the app, or if the battery runs out. This can be very disappointing if the telescope is accidently turned on while it is being transported, as it may be "dead" when you take it out to use it.To help avoid this, I made this switch guard. I have applied it with two-sided tape, so it can be removed without damaging the finish of the telescope. The space for the switch itself is fairly tight, so it may take a few tries to get it positioned right so that the guard itself is not pushing on the switch. You should be able to fit a fingertip through the hole to turn the Vespera on. I made the diameter of the hole smaller, so as to get the bonus of blocking the bright blue light, without making it invisible.Personally, I used Glow-in-the-Dark ABS, but really any material should work. Lighter color material should transmit some of the blue light. You should not need any supports. Please let me know if there are changes/improvements you would like to see.As with all my designs, I do not charge for their use, and you have my permission to make and sell copies so long as you acknowledge that the original model is by Nesher and is available for free on Thingiverse.Video showing this item at: https://youtu.be/-8EpOAewJhUThis object was made in Tinkercad. Edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/24A7CDxAqaEEDIT 29 October 2023:I added a cap to completely block the light after you've turned on your Vespera. You may have to enlarge/reduce it a little to get it to fit like you want.
