I needed to raise my monitor high enough to be able to see it over my laptop screen. I also didn't want to drill any holes in the top surface of my desk. Another concern was that I have cats who are likely to knock over a flimsy stand... The following are the materials required - I purchased everything from Home Depot for under $30 CAD:1. Black Steel Pipe - 1/2" NPT x 12"2. Black Steel Street Elbow - 1/2" NPT 3. 2x Black Steel Floor Flange - 1/2" NPT4. 4x Socket Head Cap Screws - M4 x 20 (For VESA threads)5. 12x Countersunk M4 x 20mm Wood Screws6. 4x #3 x 3" Wood screwsThe two NPT Desk Mount Parts (1 & 2) can be joined together using #3 wood screws (or metric equivalent). This assembly can then be screwed onto the backside of the desk using M4 wood screws. The floor flanges are screwed into the 3D printed parts using M4 wood screws again. Lastly, the VESA mount can be attached using M4 cap screws. This provides a tall, stable and unobstructive monitor mount. You can run the DC power cord through the interior of the pipe. I used a 23" monitor but would feel comfortable with sizes up to 30".
